Based on my results I have found that the general relationship between parents and teens is actually better that you might think. According to the survey students took at my school and what my article generally said teenagers get along with their parents pretty well.
In the survey 90%+ got along with thier parents OK-very well. In the article i read it briefly talk about how teenagers and parents get along (even if they struggle to understand each other).

My source for this blog is called: Greasing the wheels of communication with teens.
This article talks about the general parent-teen relationship. Also in the article this woman talks about how she gets through to her kids.
She finds it hard to talk to her kids in a conversation unless she asks her kid direct questions. She say's its because the teenagers are just trying to be more independent.
In the article it also explains why the teenager "ignores" their parent. It says when a teenager tries to say something the parent is just critical of the situation. The teen just backs out of the conversation because they just don't want to hear it.
Also the kids only tell their parents good things that happen to them because they think that their parents will get mad at them. Parents only see the good side of the teen's life. The reason they don't tell their parents everything is because they think the parent will be judgmental and be angry at them.
Teenagers get a lot of negativity from parents. When kids think of parents they think of people constantly telling them to clean their room or do this and that chore. The article advises that parents find a common ground and interests you both enjoy.
It also says to be flexible with your kid with their room, how long they talk on the phone, curfew, social activities, and homework (within reason).
The article talks about how some teens feel like they come last in a huge busy schedule their parents have. If you spend more time with your teenager then they will be more responsive to you.
So yeah thats a "short" (haha) summary of the article...

My topic is about the mind-sets of the average teen and the way they feel about their parents. I chose this topic because adults are ignorant, and I want them too know how we feel about the general parent-teen relationship.
Since I am a teenager I know quite a bit about this topic. I know that I get in fights with my parents, but overall we have a fairly good parent-teen relationship.
I hope to find results on how the average teen feels about their parent-teen relationship.
say "parent-teen relationship" 5 times fast! go!
